This is the face I opened my door to last Friday...although apparently I had a look of horror on my face that quickly turned into a big, big smile. Darin flew down to surprise me for my birthday and stayed until Monday morning. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday present. Now I just have to figure out when I'll be surprising him in Boston.
Here are the first (and currently only) pair of mittens I have have created. I knit these for Darin after he moved to Boston - it is freezing there. My motivation for making these was so that he could talk to me on the phone while he walks to and from work. So its a somewhat selfish gift. These days my time has been filled with class, knitting, and talking on the phone (to either Darin or my mom). Not too shabby. Darin is coming to visit in a little over a week and I couldn't be more excited. Can't believe it's already been over a month! I also can't believe I already have 3 exams in the next couple of weeks. Didn't school just start? I will keep you updated on my currents knits. Miss you all. Come visit.
It is tough to believe that finals are just two weeks away. This first semester flew by, eventhough at times it seemed to drag on...especially during some of my 3 hour long classes. It is ridiculous the amount of time we spend in class, and yet I have learned a ton in such a short period of time...hopefully I can remember it. I had four 1-day clinical experiences where I followed a PT around for a day and I had some great ones. I spent a day in the ICU at the Duke Hospital, an aquatic therapy clinic, home health therapy, and a small outpatient clinic. Thus far I think I was most interested in the in-patient physical therapy. I submitted my requests for my one-month clinical for next April to be a bigger hospital so I can see if it actually something I'd like to persue. My top pick was at the VA hospital here in Durham. They do a lot of work with prosthetics which I think could be really interesting.
I have this whole week off from classes which is nice. I've been trying to balance studying with the urge to knit and be crafty. On Wednesday Darin and I are driving up to New Jersey to visit his friend Ryan and have Thanksgiving dinner with his family. We might spend a day up in NYC, but that may be a bit intense the day after Thanksgiving. Other than that I've been trying to prepare myself for finals week. It will definitely be a tough week.
We miss everyone and are looking forward to coming home in December. It will be so nice to have 3 weeks off and not have to studying anything. Hope all is well and I love hearing from everyone!
Love, Kiki
